When finalising our Thriller opening we will need to include non diegetic music to help create an atmosphere. When doing so we have to be careful of using non copyright music. If the music used is copyright protected then it is possible that our movie could be removed from youtube and maybe even face problems. To ensure we do not use copyright protected music we will either create our own piece of music on a software or use the site: Mobygratis.com. This website has free music that is not copyright protected, its purpose is for film makers like myself.
When making any movie opening titles are extremely important. Within our opening we will include titles. We will have to create a production company ident of our own. Along with this ident we will need to create a catchy piece of music. After this title the next one will read '_______(production company) presents' 'a film by...' followed by titles of the main actors and finally the title of the movie. The art of titles, a website will help us to produce our own titles. Here is an example of what an ident may look like.
In our thriller film, will be creating our own titles for the opening scene of our film, so before we settle down to create our titles, I'll be analyzing few title sequences, we may also take some ideas to put on our titles, but it will have to fit in our movie. Below is a shot of a opening of a film.
Gangster No1
Gangster No1 is about a gangster, who rose from the bottom and gained power to the top, whilst having psychotic mind and homosexual attitude to his idol.
The opening scene of these titles are in a font that is very bold and the vibrant colour RED stands out the most, foreshadowing the immense brutality and blood in the film, also it show's power and class. the film itself has a gory feel to it, but as an audience we don't notice that gory feel, because of the calm music, which makes the film as if it's an american mafia film, until we hear the cockney accents. When you see the 'Gangster No1' logo there are 3 different types of colours in the title, but the bloody red number '1' stands out the most creating a uncomfortable title, but looks catchy and sophisticated.
So in our Film we would like to aim for a professional title sequence, making it look eye catchy and we may add vibrant colours.
For our Thriller opening there is little use of dialouge and therefore not much use for a script. Most of the opening is self explanitory and aims to use enigme codes and shots that portray the narrative. For example we are going to use close ups of the special symbol which will be 'tattooed' on our actors hands. We are also going to have a scene of an investiagtion with news paper articles and images of past terrorist events. The only time there is use of dialouge is when Mohibur and Andrew breifly meet and when Tariq is killed. This is a rough idea of the script however it may change slightly depending on what we feel when shooting:
Script for scene 1:
Mohibur: You took your time. Andrew: I had a long way to come. Mohibur: That's no excuse. Andrew: I apologise for that. Have you got the pacakge? Mohibur: Yeah.. Andrew: It's all here yeah? I don't want to have to be coming back. Mohibur: Yeah yeah it's all there. Andrew: Alright thanks see you later. Mohibur: Bye
This scene is of Andrew and Mohibur meeting and excahnging a mysterious parcel, a mcguffin.
Script for final scene:
Tariq: Hello, it's me Mohibur (on the phone, playing another character): Hello Tariq: I have something to tell yo- (sound of someone being attacked) Mohibur: Hello? you there?...What's going on? Hello?
This scene is where by Tariq has discovered something new about the investigation and so has phoned someone to infrom them, Tariq is then killed whilst on the phone.
